Rodrigo Alves

Rodrigo Alves is a Brazilian choreographer. After his studies in Theatrical Direction at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), he moved to Europe, where he develops his artistic creation. Alves engages in studies in “Solo/Dance/Performance” at the Fine Arts Academy in Berlin, where he lives. Since 2005, Alves does solo and team plays, whose themes include gender, race, identity and rituals. His solo works have been presented in Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Hamburg, Oslo and Copenhagen, in performance festivals, galleries and university events. Besides his experiences with performance and choreography, Alves works as curator for performative art and music festivals, as well as being an invited professor at Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS). Alves has also published a book on pedagogical theater.
