Adolphe Binder was born in Romenia in 1969 and emigrated to West Germany in 1978. In 1996 she established residency in Berlin. She studied Literature, Political Science, Philosophy and History.

Binder now administers and is artistic director of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. In the five previous years, up to mid-2016, she was artistic director of the Gothenburg Danskompani, in Sweden. Her work is focused in artistic conception and development of multi and transdisciplinary pieces. She has worked as curator, playwright and creative producer, in such cases as her role as director of the BerlinBallet and as playwright of the Deutsche Oper. Binder has vast experience in theater. She has worked in many theaters, festivals, cultural magazines and underground clubs as well as collaborated with Schauspiel Hannover, the Friedrich publishing company, Komische Oper, the Gotenburg Opera, EXPO2000 and founded the Creative Agency BPB. In the last 20 years, she has collaborated with a range of international artists from various fields. She has also published texts and a book on gender theory and theater.
