João dos Santos Martins (Santarém, Portugal, 1989) is an artist who works from and through dance. His practice is usually distributed throughout multiple collaborations, experimenting between various formats such as choreography, curating, and investigating. He has co-created pieces with Min Kyoung Lee, Cyriaque Villemaux, and Rita Natálio, and has recently taken part in works by Eszter Salamon, Xavier le Roy, Moriah Evans, and Ana Rita Teodoro.

In 2017, Martins organized the cycle Nova-Velha Dança [New-Old Dance], reflecting on the recent history of dance in Portugal, in which, along with Ana Bigotte Vieira, he developed a timeline in order to collectively document these practices. Martins is founder and editor of the newspaper Coreia, dedicated to the discourse of the arts and of artists in close relationship with dance.
