Paz Ortúzar

Paz Ortúzar is a multidisciplinary artist born in 1985 in Santiago de Chile. Her work is a series of process-based projects comprised by videos, objects, installations and performance. Through her practice, Paz seeks to find truths in the existence of everyday objects, actions and narratives; using common materials she aims to discover new ideas around the notions of time, cycles and emptiness. She studied Visual Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2008), also pursued a certificate in Latin-American Art Aesthetics (2008) and a Master in Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania, USA (2014).
 
Her work has been exhibited internationally, both individually and collectively at venues such as Fjord Gallery in Philadelphia (US), The Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries in New York (US), MUCHA in Mendoza (AR), FRANZ JOSEP KAI 3 in Vienna (AT) and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Santiago (CL). She has been the recipient of awards such as CONYCIT Scholarship, Fondart Nacional, Vermont Studio Center Fellowship, Oakley Medal of Achievement and recently the Juan Downey Creation and Authorship award.
 
In addition to her artistic practice, she has developed and worked in several curatorial projects, entre outros: No Horizon in Santiago and Roswell, Migratory Patterns in New York and En Medio: Arte y Sociedad in Santiago, among others. She lives and works in Santiago, Chile.

Paz Ortuzar holds a prize from the Goethe-Institut Santiago do Chile to be a resident at Vila Sul.
