Biografia

Patrick Pessoa is a playwright and theater critic, professor of philosophy at the UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense) and editor of the magazine Viso: Cadernos de Estética Aplicada (www.revistaviso.com.br). As a critic, he collaborates regularly with the Review Critical Issue (www.questaodecritica.com.br) and the Now Critical Theatrical site (www.agoracriticateatral.com.br). As a playwright, he has collaborated with directors Aderbal Freire-Filho (In the jungle of cities, 2011), Malu Galli and Bel Garcia (Oréstia, 2012), Marcio Abreu (Nomads, 2014), Daniela Amorim (Labyrnth, 2015), Marco André Nunes (Sea of ​​Hangover, 2016) and Adriano Guimarães (The Immortal, 2016). He made his directorial debut in Invisível (2016), a piece created in partnership with the dutch director Jörgen Tjon A Fong in the context of HOBRA (Netherlands-Brazil Arts Residence). He has published five books: The second life of Brás Cubas: The philosophy of art by Machado de Assis (Rocco, 2008), finalist of the Jabuti Prize for Literary Criticism; The History of Philosophy in 40 films (Nau, 2013), Aeschylus Oréstia: dramatic adaptation (Giostri, 2013), Nomads (Cobogó, 2015) and Labyrinth (Giostri, 2017). He has also published many essays on the concept of art criticism applied to theater, cinema and literature in academic magazines.

Pessoa concluded a two weeks curatorial and artistic residency in Beirut, which coincided with the Sharjah Biennial events (in October 2017) on an invitation by the Goethe Institutes Beirut and Rio de Janeiro.
