Dr. Jane de Hohenstein, anthropologist and filmproducer from São Paulo, today living in Salvador da Bahia has been living and working in Brazil and Germany. Studies of philosophy and journalism in Columbia, USA and PhD by the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She has conducted research work in West Africa and Brazil. She has produced several TV documentaries for Europe and USA about Brazilian culture and religion. She has worked as an expert consultant for exhibitions in Brazil, Europe and USA. With Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt she has produced two documentaries of Afrobrazilian art and religion, built up a collection of contemporary Afro-Brazilian art und is co-curator of the actual exhibition “Entre Terra e Mar”, which focusses on the work of the Bahian artist Ayrson Heráclito and the Portuguese artist living in Los Angeles, USA Rigo 23.
