Supporting migration: hand in hand, across borders
After running for two years, the project “Pre-Integration in the Regions of South-East Asia and South-East Europe” came to a close in June 2020. It should soon be possible for migrants from all over the world to use the materials generated.
The new study “Annäherung, die im Heimatland beginnt” (Approaches that begin at home) examines the meaning and purpose of pre-integration: migrant workers who receive information about life in Germany before arrival are less susceptible to false expectations.
The Goethe-Institut helps prospective migrants with professional qualifications and those intending to join spouses to get ready for a new start in Germany while they are still in their countries of origin.
Migrants start to prepare for a life in Germany long before joining an integration course. The Goethe-Institut in the countries of origin has a key role to play in these preparations.
“Mein Weg nach Deutschland” - the web portal for helping people find their bearings in Germany
The website “Mein Weg nach Deutschland” (www.goethe.de/mwnd) is primarily aimed at new arrivals from non-member states who want to emigrate to Germany for professional or private reasons, or have already arrived.
The Goethe-Institut is involved in pre-integration language teaching for immigrants. Quality in this sector has improved significantly in recent years.
