Zeros and ones, if we are not careful, could deepen the divides between haves and have-nots, between the deserving and the undeserving – rusty value judgments embedded in shiny new systems.

Technology is never neutral but a reflection of the biases in our society. How is bias coded into our technology? How can we infiltrate the opaque mechanisms upon which technological systems are built and counter the perpetuation of bias? Moreover, in what ways can we explore the existential impact the internet, robotics, and artificial intelligence have on us as individuals and on our society?

The film series IMAGE+BIAS. FILMIC EXPLORATIONS brings together feature films, documentaries and short films that address these questions from different perspectives and with a different focus. The selected films approach these questions in an innovative, provocative, but also humorous way and reflect on the sustainability of our value systems for a digitalized and high-tech future.
