Rental Conditions

Our films are subject to non-commercial screening laws. The films can be rented for non-commercial screenings only. Copying the films onto video or other formats is against the law. Unlawful screenings are subject to prosecution. In order to protect the creators’ rights, the films must be shown in their entirety and cannot be altered. Screening rights cannot be granted to third parties. The films can only be promoted via press releases.


Please email your order to Tatiana Braun ( at least one month prior to your screening date, and include your screening date and mailing address. We will inform you within five business days of receiving your order whether the title you requested is available on the screening date you requested.

Screening Reports

The information on the number of demonstrations and spectators on the attached report sheet is mandatory.


The cost of shipping (both ways) is the responsibility of the borrower. DVDs and Blue Rays will be shipped by regular mail and can be returned by regular mail. Films should be returned to:

Damaged Media

Any damage to our film media must be reported to us immediately. Customers are liable for damaged media and will be charged for the reparations accordingly. To prevent damage to the media during transportation we kindly ask to pack the media appropriately. The Goethe-Institut Montreal reserves the right to refuse future rentals in case of recurring damage to media.

General Information

The Goethe-Institut reserves the right to exclude in the future any borrower who does not respect the conditions mentioned above.

The Goethe-Institut will not be held responsible in the event that for some reason beyond its control a reservation can not be respected.

The participation of the Goethe-Institut, including its logo, must be indicated in all publications related to the screenings of the films coming from the Goethe-Institut’s film depot. Logos are available upon request.
