Anti-Racist Memorial for Migration

Anti-Racist Memorial for Migration is a community-based, collaborative memorial that commemorates the racist bomb attacks against predominantly Turkish migrant communities in Cologne, Germany in 2001 and 2004. As a collaboration between the residents of these communities and Berlin-based artist and activist Ulf Aminde, the project engages publics to remember and commemorate the past, while highlighting “the concept of memory with a future that needs to be constantly (visually) renewed by a ‘Society of the Many.’” 

The Anti-Racist Memorial for Migration takes the shape of a virtual and augmented reality platform. This new media platform builds a virtual house with large-scale walls while projecting films documenting collective and individual experiences with racism, gentrification, and migrant experience. The platform can be downloaded and viewed both on- and off-site.
