Based on a true story, a mysterious young man is found in the main city square of Nurnberg in 1828. Kept apart during his youth from all human contact, he is given shelter by a well-meaning couple who attempt to teach him language and manners. His origins, and why he was abandoned and subsequently killed, have never been found.

“Perhaps the most famous of his (Herzog’s) romantic allegories…An astonishing performance, if performance it is, by Bruno S, (…) Kaspar Hauser is one of the most fascinating of films. – Derek Malcolm, The Guardian

Screening in honour of Enno Patalas, former director of the Munich Filmmuseum, who died on August 7, 2018 and played the role of the priest in Kaspar Hauser.
