In German with English subtitles.

David Bermann (Moritz Bleibtreu, Run Lola Run) is determined to make the most of the ravaged postwar era by recruiting friends from a displaced persons camp to sell linens at inflated prices to unsuspecting Germans. Most in the group simply want to raise money to leave Germany for the US. But David has a secret, and American Army investigator Sara Simon is determined to uncover it. Peppered with Yiddish flavour, this comedy-drama tells the untold story of Jewish men and woman whose grit allowed them to succeed in postwar Germany, and ultimately paved the way for reconciliation.

“Unapologetically and perfectly filmed…a film so charming it can start the discussion on unmentionable events while also making us laugh and cry” – HuffPost

“Tells an unusual story with gusto, enlivened by an enjoyable performance from Moritz Bleibtreu as a joker whose way with a punchline probably saved his life.”– The HollywoodReporter
