Director: Christoph Hübner und Gabriele Voss, 2017, Germany, 112 mins
Documentary

German with English subtitles.

"Will the Holocaust soon be as far away for young people as the Thirty Years War or the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest? For the seven children and grandchildren of high-ranking Nazi perpetrators and Holocaust survivors, who in "Nachlass" tell of their suppressed feelings of guilt and trauma and of the liberating confrontation with this legacy, this question does not arise. Their life stories alternate with pictures of exhibition preparations in Buchenwald, work in a stumbling block workshop or Adi Kantor's guided tours through the exhibition "Topography of Terror" in Berlin. "Nachlass" invites us to reflect deeply on our culture of remembrance and its indispensability - even after the death of the last contemporary witnesses of the Shoah. — filmportal.de
