After the successful Toronto screening of Mugambi Nthiga’s Kenyan-German drama “Lusala” at the Toronto Black Film Festival in early 2020, audiences across Canada now have the chance to catch the moving drama at the digital Montreal International Black Film Festival. The film is the latest in the Cologne-based One Fine Day film series of African films mentored and facilitated by filmmaker Tom Tykwer (“Run Lola Run”, “Babylon Berlin”). The Goethe-Institut Toronto presented the first six feature films in its GOETHE FILMS "One Fine Day: Africa Now” program in 2019.

“Lusala” (Germany, 2019, 65 min), directed by Mugambi Nthiga (co-writer Kati Kati, Supa Modo), with Brian Ogola (18 Hours, Poacher), Stycie Waweru (Supa Modo), Alan Oyugi, and others.

Lusala, adopted by an affluent Nairobi family a decade ago, is imposed on to leave home and start on his own. Eager and willing at first, he makes most of his life, until the demons from his past return, and he faces them on his own.

Besides acting, Nthiga also pursued a career in writing as well as directing and he is part of an improve comedy collective.
