The global Goethe-Institut is inviting you to the digital festival “Latitude”, a programme with artistic contributions and debates over three days. The focus is on the effect of existing colonial structures today and how they can be overcome. Join us via livestream and chat.

The festival is organised into four broad thematic areas addressing the continuities of colonial structures: financial inequality; racism, identity and memory; dealing with cultural material, and finally digital equality on a global level.

There will be a daily programme of related events lasting around six hours, including artworks, performances and concerts, discussions and debates via chat, as well as interviews streamed live or sent as video clips. In cooperation with Berlin's Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art an accompanying film programme will be shown from 29 May-12 June 2020. A pop-up radio channel will broadcast in cooperation with reboot.fm, the radio station for freelance artists, as well as Radio-Netzwerk Berlin, from 4-7 June 2020.

Participants include Alex Herman (lawyer, London/Toronto), Denise Ferreira da Silva (philosopher, Vancouver), and dozens of international artists, directors, poets, choreographers, musicians, authors, historians, and activists.

The Goethe-Institut North America’s “Shaping the Past” project is part of the Latitude-Festival.
