Launching with Holocaust Education Week 2020 in November, Neuberger staff will lead a virtual reading project of Susan Neiman’s 2019 book Learning From the Germans: Race and the Memory of Evil. The program will meet digitally three times over a month to discuss the book, culminating in a final webinar with author Susan Neiman.

The Neuberger introduces the book’s preface, its major themes, and their connections to Canada.
 
Check-In
18 November 2020 @ 7:30PM EST

The mid-book check-in program will be led by Neuberger staff, who will be joined by a Canadian scholar to discuss the commemoration of slavery and Black activism in Canada.
 
Conclusion with Dr. Susan Neiman and Chief Roderick Googoo
2 December 2020 @ 2PM EST

The program will conclude with Zoom conversation with Dr. Susan Neiman and Chief Roderick Googoo, co-chair of the Task Force on the Commemoration of Edward Cornwallis and the Recognition and Commemoration of Indigenous History, who will discuss the book’s relevance to Indigenous commemoration in Canada and answer live and pre-submitted audience questions.
 
Participants must obtain a copy of the book themselves prior to the launch. Learning from the Germans can be accessed in paperback, hardcover, e-book, and audiobook.
 
Links to the live Zoom Webinars will be linked to their Meetings post after you register. Webinars will be recorded and posted on the Neuberger's digital webinar library.
