Deutsch lehren lernen
Quality Standards

The Deutsch Lehren Lernen (DLL) series was developed by leading researchers in accordance with the latest standards for continuing education and training programs.

DLL is thus:

skills-oriented

DLL focuses on and develops the skills and competencies needed for teaching. The program is designed to broaden your subject-matter-specific and pedagogical expertise.

practice-oriented

DLL considers your teaching or language training situation as well as your individual classroom experiences. It provides you with numerous examples from real teaching practice such as interviews with teachers, examples of teaching materials or lesson plans, as well as video recordings of lessons. Working with these materials from real classrooms is meant to inspire you as you plan, test out, and reflect upon your own teaching. Practical Exploration Projects (Praxiserkundungsprojekte – PEPs) allow you to develop new perspectives on your own teaching.

multimedia-based

You have a choice: Every DLL unit is available in book format from the publisher Klett-Langenscheidt, but can also be worked through online on an interactive platform. Video recordings of diverse classroom and language training situations help you gain deeper practical insight and serve as a basis for talking with others about teaching and language training.

standardized

DLL is standardized with regard to the format, the assignments used, and the training scenarios.

transparent

DLL is transparent with regard to the prerequisites for participants, learning objectives, formats, scope, duration, and qualifications earned.

developed with academic input

DLL was developed in collaboration with experts in their respective fields. The academic advisory board on language at the Goethe-Institut and/or other academic experts were consulted and/or involved in developing the content of the program.

up-to-date

DLL reflects the latest standards in the field of German as a Foreign Language and is updated on an ongoing basis.

tested and evaluated

DLL has been tested in Germany and abroad. Feedback from test readers from various parts of the world has been incorporated into the program. The continuing education approach has been academically evaluated by accompanying research.

modular and accredited

3 ECTS credits (1 ECTS credit = 30 h) are awarded for completing each unit.
