Through the collaboration of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Goethe-Institut Montreal, Le Vivier and HELLERAU - Europäisches Zentrum Der Künste Dresden, Cologne based composer
Yukiko Watanabe has received a research and creation residency in new music in Montreal. To mark the end of this residency, the Goethe-Institut and Le Vivier present a concert with pianist

Yukiko Watanabe
Yukiko Watanabe has studied both composition and piano at Toho Gakuen School of Music Japan with Keiko Harada and Michio Mamiya. 2008 she moved to Austria and studied with Beat Furrer at Kunstuniversität Graz. From 2014 to 2016 she studied with Johannes Schöllhorn at the Hochschule für Musik Köln. She received awards and scholarships: Nomura Cultural Foundation, Rohm Music Foundation, Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs, DAAD, Ö1 Talentebörse-Kompositionspreise, Akutagawa Award for Music Composition. Her music was performed in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Spain, France, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, US, Mexico, Egypt, USA, Canada, Korea, Singapore and Japan.
Kimihiro Yasaka
Japan native Kimihiro Yasaka is an active pianist, a recording artist as well as an enthusiastic educator. He completed his Master’s degree in Piano Solo Performance under the supervision of Prof. Kyoko Hashimoto at McGill University. He is a devoted performer of new music and has performed in several world premiers. His career includes many notable performances in Japan, Canada, The United States, Italy and The UK.
