Idyllic colours, gruesome content and dark humour create a surreal film which resists any categorization. The unusual but effective film explores German identity. A policeman likes wearing animal costumes, a school trip to a concentration camp gets out of hand, and a discussion about the ugliness of Germany develops - the presented world is a weird one.

“Finsterwalder is so ambitious she tackles big topics such as German identity head-on, putting some very intelligent revelations in the mouth of some of her youngest protagonists.” – The Hollywood Reporter

In June, Walker+Worm won best producer and director prizes at Film Fest Munich 2017 for their sophomore THE GARDEN, directed and written by Sonja Maria Kröner, with Laura Tonke and others. Don't miss the North American premiere at TIFF17 on September 12.
"A portrait of a bourgeois German family's 1970s summer that feels deliciously and authentically present-tense." - Variety
