Toronto

As every year, the Goethe-Institut Toronto is happy to partner with the Images Festival in presenting artists, experts and experimental moving image works.

The Goethe-Institut Toronto is co-presenting the exhibition 4 WATERS: DEEP IMPLICANCY by Denise Ferreira da Silva and Arjuna Neuman at Gallery TPW. Artist, filmmaker and writer Arjuna Neuman is a guest of the Goethe-Institut.

The show is accompanied by the screening MATTER on April 15 at the Innis Town Hall. It includes the Toronto premiere of Neuman and Silva´s mid-length film SERPENT RAIN (Norway 2016, 30 min).

The Images Research Forum, co-presented and co-hosted by the Goethe-Institut Toronto, is an educational initiative that takes place during the 31st edition of Images Festival. Understanding the need to support the creation and dissemination of critical thinking and dialogue, Images Festival invites emerging colleagues to explore contemporary moving image culture within the context of the festival and with mentorship from leading international curators, artists, and research in the field.

Images Festival is also co-presenting the Goethe-Institut’s media arts show Touching from a Distance II: Transmediations in the Digital Age.

Images Festival, founded in 1987, is the largest North American festival for experimental video and film art that offers space for installations and live performances by hundreds of artists every year.

"Images presents work that counters dominant mainstream narratives and provides alternative ways of thinking and seeing that expands the understanding of media art through our programming and education-based initiatives." - mandate of the Images Festival
