From New York-based filmmaker Shelly Silver comes an insightful tour of the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, Germany, as seen through the eyes of young girls age seven to 19. Moving from artwork to artwork, century to century, as these girls tell us what they see, the film makes visible how role models have changed over time − and where art comes into it.

“Art is typically the reserve of anointed experts and girls rarely take or are given a central and unfettered place to speak from. From imaginative leaps of storytelling to curt pronouncements, from gender fluidity to power, inequality, precarity and war, Girls | Museum, in its quiet way, calls for questioning basic assumptions of what and who we value.” — Shelly Silver

Co-presented by the Art Gallery of Ontario, this film will run on a continuous loop and no advance tickets are required. Rich with episodic chapters, visitors are invited to drop in at any time and stay as long as they wish.
