DVD Screening & Discussion "Phoenix"

© Piffl Medien “Phoenix” (2014), directed by Christian Petzold and starring Nina Hoss, Ronald Zehrfeld und Nina Kunzendorf is a crime melodrama about a Jewish woman returning from the concentration camp Ausschwitz to postwar Germany. She searches for her former husband, who does not recognize her, but wants her to play the role of his presumed dead wife.

The film will be shown in German with English subtitles. Afterwards there will be a moderated discussion.


This year Canada is commemorating its 150th anniversary. To celebrate, the Goethe-Institut will run a special program, “Germany @ Canada 2017 – Partners From Immigration to Innovation,” showcasing the close relationship between Germany and Canada.
