GOETHE FILMS presents the exclusive Canadian premiere of the complete first season of acclaimed TV mini series BAD BANKS, starring Paula Beer (TRANSIT; FRANTZ). The German-Luxemburgish co-production set at the heart of Europe’s financial capitals premiered at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival 2018 and went on to win the Audience Award at the Kino Festival New York. Beer, who was a jury member for the 1st Cannes International Series Festival, won Best Actress at the Bavarian Television Awards for her role in BAD BANKS and is nominated for a Best Lead Actress German Acting Award. She has previously been honoured with the Marcello Mastroianni Award at Venice in 2016 for FRANTZ, which also garnered her a nomination for the César and Lumière Awards for Most Promising Actress 2017. Both BAD BANKS leads, Barry Atsma and Beer, just won the German Acting Awards for their roles.

Ambitious Jana is confronted with the unscrupulous machinations of the world of finance. Her work life is determined by egotism, machismo and the pressure to succeed. She soon has to decide how far she is prepared to go for her career.

Directed by Christian Schwochow (PAULA; WEST), and Oliver Kienle (screenplay), starring Paula Beer, Barry Atsma, Désirée Nosbusch, Tobias Moretti, Mai Duong Kieu, Jörg Schüttauf, Jördis Triebel, and others.

BAD BANKS has been screening in nearly 40 countries and has already been renewed for a second season.
