About Theater Mummpitz

It all began in 1980 when a small group of students realized their vision of creating an independent theatre. At first they moved as a travelling theatre from place to place, until they finally found their permanent home in the Nuremberg Cultural Centre for Children “Kachelbau”.
Thirteen people work at our theatre and we regularly employ guests (directors, actors, musicians, set/costume designers, theatre educators).

Two to three new shows are premiered each season and the repertoire comprises at least ten further productions for the age group 3 – 12.

Our productions tell stories about special moments in everyday life, stories about journeys, stories about life and death; stories which prove that children possess courage and that they have the guts ('Mumm') to listen to and watch many things, because that’s what life is all about. Life can be stopped by no-one and  life knows no age limits.

Around 150 shows take place in our own theatre per season. We perform in many other theatres and institutions and regularly go on tour. We tour throughout Germany and abroad, presenting around 20 -30 shows a year.
