Co-presented by the Gardiner Museum & the European Union Film Festival Toronto

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the European Union Film Festival, we launch the festival program with a celebration of European food and cinema. Visitors will have a chance to sample European delicacies, and complimentary cocktails and wine offered by Nadège Patisserie, Wines of Germany, and Le Baratin. Adding a theatrical twist will be two cinematic programmes featuring food scenes from notable European films such as the modern German classic Mostly Martha.

The Festival also gives you access to the Gardiner Museum's fall show 'Savour: Food Culture in the Age of Enlightenment'.
Food and dining were transformed in Europe during the age of Enlightenment by profound changes that still resonate today. What many of us eat, the way food is cooked, and how we dine continues to be influenced by radical changes that occurred in France from 1650 until the French Revolution in 1789.The exhibition explores the story of this transformation with rare objects, fascinating histories, and amusing stories.

The European Union Film Festival is the unique cultural collaboration of EU Consulates and Cultural Institutes in Toronto. Celebrating cinematic excellence with national and international award-winning films, the festival takes place in November every year at The Royal Cinema.

Part of the Goethe-Institut focus on German Film.
