Arnold Fokam

Graduated in Plastic Arts and Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts of the University of Douala in Nkongsamba, Arnold Tagne Fokam is very early passionate about drawing. After his Advanced level, he decided to study plastic arts. He lives and works between Nkongsamba and Douala and his artistic work revolves around water in relation to the body, through which he campaigns for a prestigious status for women in society and a better view of Africa. His work has been the subject of several group exhibitions including Douala Art Fair 2019, the exhibition "The Kai" at the Annick Kadji Art Gallery, the exhibition "Trait d'union" at the Bushman Café in Abidjan. The exhibition "AquariHomme" would like to reinvent the image of the black African female body under the prism of the relationship between the body and water in a universe of dreams and science fiction. It reconstructs this body by substituting it with water effects and its symbolism and then integrates it into a hybrid cultural world.
