Goethe-Institut Kamerun

Soirée allemande

Following an international call for applications by the Goethe-Institut, eight young film directors from Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Germany, Colombia and Iran were selected to direct wordless short films on refugee camps. They gathered the testimonies of child refugees in different camps and the project led to seven cinematographic works, animated films, drama and documentaries of between eight to 12 minutes, in collaboration with Bildsturm Filmproduktion. These films bring the focus of attention to refugee children. Birgit Schulz has combined the seven shorts with real documentary footage shot on 16 mm film in Lebanon, Jordan and Greece. The result is very moving works that each, in their own way, depict the dreams, wishes and fears of children who have left their homes, their friends and, sometimes, their future behind them.
