Uli Gaulke is guest of the filmmaker-in-residence-program 2018, a joint initiative of Goethe-Institut Hongkong and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. During his three-month stay in Hong Kong, Uli Gaulke will not only research and work on a new film project, but also share his long experience as a documentary film maker in a masterclass with students of Hong Kong University. The topic is story development for a short documentary, and the structure of the workshop – three days spread over four weeks – allows the students to develop their own projects with Uli Gaulke’s expertise.

. The screenings are open to the general public, and the director is present for a Q&A after each film.
Uli Gaulke graduated from the prestigious Academy of Film and Television “Konrad Wolf” at Potsdam-Babelsberg with his first Film Havanna mi amor
, that won the German Film Award - Best documentary. Since then he has released five more creative documentaries, with awards including the Grand Jury Award Sundance 2007 (Comrades in Dreams
), and invitations to festivals and masterclasses in Europe, Asia and South America.
