Goethe-Institut Hongkong is pleased to be partner of Justice Centre Hong Kong in presenting the Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize 2020.
Established in 2013, the Hong Kong Human Rights Art Prize (HKHRAP) has played a pivotal role in discovering and encouraging Hong Kong artists to explore the state of human rights both at home and abroad.
The prize open to all Hong Kong-based artists who submit artwork around the theme of human rights. Recurring themes in artworks exhibited and auctioned in previous years include the Occupy movement, the environment, homelessness, the plight of refugees, forced labour, ethnic minorities and LGBT, rights. Entries are judged by an esteemed panel of experts from Hong Kong’s art and visual arts community.
The winner of the HKHRAP 2020 will receive one of Asia’s most prestigious art award packages. Two runners-up will also a generous prize package. The first-ever Goethe Award
, which for a short film or video that falls into the category of “45 Seconds for Human Rights
” (a video of exactly 45 seconds length), is supported by Goethe-Institut Hongkong.
Entries are judged by a panel of noted experts from Hong Kong’s art and business community, names to be announced soon.
Entries for the Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize are open from 14 November 2019 through 17 March 2020. All submissions must be received by 12:00pm Hong Kong Time on 17 March 2020 (Tuesday). Please click here for submission of artwork: https://hongkonghumanrightsartsprize2020.artcall.org/
Supported by Goethe-Institut Hongkong, the 2020 HKHRAP Award Ceremony will take place on 9 May 2020 (Saturday) at the Goethe-Gallery. The exhibition of the awarded and finalist works at the Goethe-Gallery and Black Box Studio will run until 30 May 2020.
