Microwave International New Media Arts Festival 2020
Microwave International New Media Arts Festival returns this year with a hybrid format combining physical exhibition, Film screenings with online conference and workshops.
Goethe-Institut Hongkong is pleased to be a partner of the festival again in bringing The Glass Room Misinformation Exhibition
to Hong Kong. Curated by Tactical Tech, an international NGO based in Berlin aiming to engage with citizens and civil-society organizations to explore the impacts of technology on society, this exhibition is an eye-catching, self-learning installation on data and privacy in our modern age.
What happens when we increasingly rely on social media and the web for nearly all our information? What information do we see, and what do we miss? How do we know if a picture or a tweet is genuine or truthful? And what can we do if we can’t be sure?
The Glass Room Misinformation Edition is an exhibition where everyone can explore how social media and the web have changed the way we read information and react to it. The exhibition consists of interactive apps and visualization that inspire visitors to question the information they receive online and to help them spot misinformation in its many guises. One can also pick a free Data Detox Kit, which reveals how to tell facts from fiction and why it benefits everyone around us when we take a little more care about what we share.
