Peruvian theater director. Founding member and director of Yuyachkani. He proposes a theater of creation and research based on material produced by actors. A sociology graduate from Universidad Particular Inca Garcilaso de la Vega (1974), Rubio was given an honorary doctorate by Instituto Superior de Arte at the University of Havana (2010). His experience is based on research into Peruvian culture and its application in contemporary artistic expressions. He runs scenic interventions, theatrical works, and collective creations. He was deputy director of El gran teatro del mundo [The Great Theater of the World], by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, between 1999 and 2017. Rubio has also taught courses in Boston, Havana, Bologna, and Beijing. He participated in the International School of the Theatre Anthropology (ISTA) and in the Universal Forum of Cultures. In addition, he has been a theater jury for the International Casa de las Americas Prize. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Theater School for Latin America and the Caribbean (EITALLC) and a member of the Latin American Theater Institute (CIELA).
