YOUTH AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT FOR DANCE TODAY
COME AND DANCE WITH ME – A PILOT PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH GOETHE INSTITUTE AND DANCEHOUSE LEFKOSIA
This pilot project consists of workshops within three consecutive weekends from 4th March – 19th March 2017 and it is addressed to youngsters age 13 – 18 years old.

PREREQUISITES FOR PARTICIPATION
The workshop addresses two groups of youngsters
GROUP A (15 persons) : NO prerequisites and they will come from PALLOURIOTISSA GYMNASIUM & LYCEUM
GROUP B (15 persons) : Students of dance in collaboration with certain private dance schools

THE AIM
Contemporary Dance is something that is an encompassing art form bringing together much richness from all performance arts. It is an advanced art form, and addresses everyone, and yet so few people know about it and the ways into its codes and expressions
This pilot project apart from the WORKSHOPS will encompass more activities concerning the theme of What is Contemporary Dance where Alexandra Waierstall will curate and organize more actions around the workshop/ performances in collaboration with the Dancehouse Lefkosia.
DESCRIPTION
The overall aim of this pilot research project is to communicate dance for Audience Development starting from the YOUTH and to start with this age so as to begin to address the issue of WHAT IS DANCE. Alexandra Waierstall curating this project is involving many actions over a period of 3 weeks , during 3 intensive weekends addressing today’s dance and its accessibility as a creative tool for pedagogy for all.
Alexandra Waierstall renowned choreographer (D/CY) will work on this project with Maria Kamberis Dance Teacher in MA studies on Dance in Education from the University of Cyprus .

Methodology
The project is addressing two groups A and B
The project will bring students of dance and students with no dance experience together for a shared experience in learning about Dance as today’s art form and sharing a workshop with many similar tasks , and mainly dance and the body’s movement as a creative tool
FIRST WEEKEND : The two groups will get to know each other and then share a journey and experience together the first weekend going to the Cyprus Dance Platform
SECOND WEEKEND : The two groups will work together and in parallel studios , and they will share and observe each other in the making of dances, and the will with repertory material from works of Alexandra Waierstall . There will be a sharing at the end of this second weekend
THIRD WEEKEND : Will involve FILM SCREENINGS of two major German Dance Films KURT JOOS : GREEN TABLE and PINA BAUSCH film by WIM WENDERS open to general public
It will follow with the final workshop towards preparing dances to share at the end amongst the two groups participants to a wider public at the end.
The two group participants will receive a DIPLOMA of ATTENDANCE
TIME SCHEDULE
Saturday 4th March:
10.00 – 12.00 MEETING/ GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER / Information
The meeting will include THEATRE GAMES and PLAY to get to know each other, break the ice and to create ease in the body and unify in the common aim of creative play together through the coming weekends of getting to know more about DANCE for ALL
18.00 – Departure to RIALTO THEATRE to CYPRUS DANCE PALTFORM
(bus ride to LIMASSOL and BACK is FREE OF CHARGE for both group participants)
Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th March: Main Workshop A & B GROUPS (which will also include parallel work in two studios)
