A radical right wing trio goes on a killing spree through Germany, in November 2011 Uwe Mundlos and Uwe Böhnhardt shoot themselves, and a few days later Beate Zschäpe turns herself in. Was all the searching done in vain or was it perhaps even staged? The NSU's downfall leads to a myriad of questions: why did the authorities fail so obviously? The film alternates between past and present. Inexplicable failures by the investigators are brought to the light. It is clear that powerful opponents are involved, who would do anything to prevent the truth from coming to the surface.
