Moving in the right direction?

Europe in movement is a project in light of the European elections in May 2019 and aims to overcome Euroscepticism. In this context, Europeans have the opportunity to discuss the future of the continent. A panel discussion will follow the screening of Citizen Europe.

Citizen Europe is a cinematic journey through Europe during which five young participants in the world's largest mobility programme, the Erasmus program, gather important experience. The documentary, which will be broadcast on the occasion of the elections to the European Parliament in May 2019, is a Greek-French-Irish-Bulgarian production.

The film's characters leave their comfort zone at home to work or study in different European countries and adapt to different mentalities. In the face of the current European crisis partially caused by high youth unemployment and fears of the refugee situation, their travels offer a bird's eye view of a changing continent and give an impression of what the future can bring.

The film screening, which will take place simultaneously at 30 locations throughout Europe, will be followed by a debate with Andreas Savvides, Associate Professor, at the Department of Architecture of the University of Cyprus, Dr. Constantinos Adamides, Assistant Professor at the Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia, moderated by Prof. Dr. Hubert Faustmann, Director of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Cyprus Office. Issues regarding the future of Europe in the light of the upcoming European elections will be discussed.
