Aglantzia Old Square, Nicosia

With two top-class jazz musicians from Germany

This year AglanJazz will welcome jazzlovers to the Old Aglantzia Square in Nicosia for the 13th time. A number of exceptional artists will be performing at this two-day music festival. Among them are two jazz musicians from Hamburg: Vladyslav Sendecki and Jürgen Spiegel, whose success extends beyond Germany.

It was a stroke of luck for jazz, that the two musicians joined forces in a studio in Hamburg for a duo-project in an unusual duet combination of piano and percussion. An intense musical conversation develops between Spiegel and Sendecki, which cannot be ignored.  The borders between jazz, classical and world music are effortlessly dissolved. The two musicians interlock organically and are carried by a spirit of spontaneity and joy of playing.

Vladyslav Sendecki is a German-Polish pianist. He is regarded as one of the most dynamic and creative pianists of the European jazz scene. Süddeutsche Zeitung praised him as a "master of emotions, creating captivating musical virtuosity". In New York the weekly newspaper Village Voice distinguished him as one of the five currently most important jazz pianists of the world.

Jürgen Spiegel, percussionist, has been the driving force for over 15 years  of the worldwide celebrated Tingvall Trio, Hamburg's own brand in things jazz culture. He is widely regarded as an international figurehead of German jazz next to Till Brönner. In recent years, Spiegel has also made a name for himself as a producer in a number of music and video projects.
