Concert Series of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra
Cancelled due to Coronavirus
The Goethe-Institut Cyprus would like to draw your attention to the following event by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra on the occasion of the Beethoven anniversary.
In this Beethoven Cycle, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra hosts Andrei Gavrilov, one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, an artist with an uncompromising, free, original and idealistic profile. Andrei Gavrilov will be performing Beethoven’s Second Piano concerto, that was premiered by Beethoven himself, on his first public appearance in front of the Viennese public. In his Second Symphony, Beethoven replaces the traditional Minuet with a Scherzo, a daring motion that indicates a clear tendency to move beyond Mozart’s classical symphonic model.
L. v. Beethoven:
Piano concerto no. 2 in B flat major, op. 19
Symphony no. 2 in D major, op. 36
Soloist: Andrey Gavrilov (piano)
