German for Caregivers

Are you planning to work as a nurse or as a care assistant in a hospital or an elderly home in Germany? Or are already working as caregiver in Germany and would like to improve your work-related communication skills in a German language course? It is not only important to speak with patients, doctors and colleagues in your work routine, but also the written expression in order to write nursing reports in German.

We therefore recommend that you attend anintensive German course at one of the 11 locations of our Goethe-Instituts in Germany. In an intensive course, you will train daily from Monday to Friday in German for your job. If you prefer to learn German only two or three times a week alongside your work, you are welcome to attend one of our courses German in the Evening, German in the Morning or German at the Weekend.

We recommend that you take one of our general language courses up to level B1, so that you are well prepared for everyday situations when dealing with patients and relatives. From level B2 onwards, we offer companies on request a tailor-made specialist German course for nursing staff and an optimally coordinated examination with theGoethe Test PRO Pflege. We can run this course in person at our Goethe-Instituts in Germany or virtually.

We would be happy to advise you on creating language course bridges in which your nursing staff can start courses directly at our Goethe-Instituts abroad and then continue their language training here in Germany after a pre-agreed level.

Take a german examination for care workers

Our Goethe-Test PRO Pflege complies with a German examination on level B2 and tests specific language skills of employees in the health care and the geriatric care sector by examining their reading, listening, writing and speaking skills. Within 60 – 90 minutes your individual language level in the examination parts reading and listening will be tested digitally. In the speaking exam work-related situations of the health care and geriatric care sector will be covered. In the written examination tasks will directly relate to everyday nursing care. This examination for caregivers will be offered at the Goethe-Instituts in Germany starting from the end of 2020.
