Among the many cities in Germany, Düsseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, is a real insider tip. Due to its location on the Rhine just north of Cologne, Düsseldorf is both beautifully situated and well connected. A large part of the German advertising industry has settled in Düsseldorf, which makes for a lively and creative atmosphere in the city. Düsseldorf is also famous for its textile and fashion companies. For years, the city has distinguished itself as an innovative media center. On Düsseldorf's promenade, the Königsallee, you want to be seen and look at the shop windows of fashion brands from all over the world. The excellent reputation of the Heinrich Heine University, the Academy of Music and the Academy of Arts attracts young students from all over the world.

Culture

Düsseldorf is an important center of art, music and fashion. Renowned museums and galleries showcase the famous art scene of Düsseldorf. The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, the Museum Kunstpalast and the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf are only a short walk from each other. As a platform for avant-garde art, the Kunstakademie is known throughout the world, thanks in part to Joseph Beuys. For fans of modern architecture, the Media Harbor is a special attraction. Star architects like Frank Gehry have created spectacular buildings here. Operas, theaters, concerts, cabaret stages and festivals entertain and educate young and old, citizens and visitors. Many famous German bands come from Düsseldorf, the most famous are Kraftwerk and Die Toten Hosen. Two literature museums are also located in Düsseldorf: the Heinrich-Heine-Institut and the Goethe-Museum. In the Neanderthal Museum in Mettmann you can get to know the oldest Rhinelander, and in the Mustard Museum you can see the history of this Düsseldorf specialty.

Leisure

Where good business is done, the amenities of life also want to be enjoyed. The range of leisure activities on offer is correspondingly extensive even outside the carnival season, which is celebrated in every street: Aquazoo, Jazz Rally, Japan Days - there is something for everyone. The old town is considered the most convivial district of the city. Over 200 pubs and bars line up here, which is why Düsseldorf's Altstadt is jokingly called the "longest bar in the world". Düsseldorf is blessed with many public parks and an extensive city forest. A real attraction is the Japanese Garden on the Rhine in the Nordpark, a gift from Japanese companies and the large Japanese community in Düsseldorf to the city and its inhabitants. The Rhine promenade is one of the most beautiful jogging routes in the Rhineland.

I used to find learning German really difficult and I tried lots of different things. But on the language course at the Goethe-Institut, I suddenly started making rapid progress.
