Caritas Egypt is affiliated to the Caritas International Confederation, a network of Catholic charities.The first Caritas office opened in Germany in 1897 to help vulnerable communities at times of crisis, such as wartorn individuals and immigrants. The organization worked on nursing victims of crisis and supporting them in fighting hunger, disease, poverty, marginalization, and addiction. Nowadays, Caritas has offices in over 165 countries and implements projects in 200 of the most impoverished countries. It works on community development, implements human rights policies to raise awareness, shares expertise, and supports vulnerable individuals and provides them with opportunities to understand the full capacity of their capabilities in order to lead a healthy social, economic and cultural life.
