Goethe-Institut Finnland

Library of the Geothe-Institut Finnland

Through an Open Call, the Goethe-Institut Finnland sought two projects that address the following question: How can library space and media be redesigned and rethought around a theme that is significant for today?

One of the two selected projects deals with multilingualism and children's literature, and wants to make the topic accessible to library visitors in a variety of ways. Books are presented that deal with the topic of multilingualism and highlight diverse stories. How can multilingualism be promoted and how is the theme reflected in current Finnish and German children's literature?

In addition, the project brings exciting events for the whole family to the library in the autumn! Storytelling theatre workshops for kindergarten groups and a family afternoon with multilingual readings will be organised.

A colourful reading corner with a reading cave for children is being created in cooperation with illustrator Réka Kiraly from Etana Editions and with the Multilingual Library. Children can expect various reading activities and a multilingual reading diploma.

The project is conceptualised by Julia Kartesalo, a cultural scientist who works primarily in the fields of art mediation and exhibitions.
