Is it really possible to grasp the Pythagorean Theorem simply by weighing or folding?
From 2 to 13 February 2015 the Global Language Immersion Centre (GLIC) in Gloucester hosted Get a Grip on Maths, a travelling exhibition created by the Mathematikum Gießen, the first interactive museum for mathematics.
The exhibition aims at pupils aged between 8 and 16 years and offers a playful approach to Maths and German. Visitors were invited to experiment with mathematical exhibition items. Eighteen exhibits provided access to German and Maths through playful experimentation and individual discovery rather than by using mathematical language. Staff from the Goethe-Institut London was in attendance and offered tours through the exhibition within the framework of a German lesson.
Our video shows the activities enjoyed when pupils visited from Leighton Academy, one of four partner schools in the UK.
