Into Film Festival

The Into Film Festival is a free and annual celebration of film and education for schools and young people across the UK. It aims to help educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds by inspiring young people to watch, make and understand film in new and creative ways.

Tschick (Goodbye Berlin), 89 min
‘Tschick’, newly arrived from Russia, and Maik, a middle-class boy dealing with his mother’s alcoholism, are two teenagers in Berlin with very different social backgrounds, who have bonded through their shared experience of boredom and roles as outsiders. As the summer holidays, and the birthday party of a girl in their class approaches, the pair boldly decide to embark on a road trip in a stolen car in an effort to instantly go from uncool to cool. Setting off on the joyride with no mobile phone or map, the boys learn lessons around self-confidence, friendship and first loves in what will prove to be an unforgettable summer. ‘Goodbye Berlin’ is an acclaimed and warm-hearted coming-of-age tale from Germany.
