Virtual Work Experience for Sixth Formers

Online-Praktikumswoche 2021

We are delighted to announce our call for applications for our online work-shadowing week with the project team at the Goethe-Institut London, which will take place from 25 - 29 October 2021.

Following the success of our inaugural Online-Praktikumswoche in 2020, this October, 20 Sixth Formers from across the country will be offered the opportunity to take part in a creative collaborative project via an online format. In 2020, the project was a creative podcasting project. A new creative team challenge will be set for the participants of the 2021 programme. The project will be managed by the Goethe-Institut London and allow participants to develop vocational skills in an immersive, German-speaking online environment, whilst meeting other keen Germanists and forming friendships and professional connections.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

On the 25th October 2021, participants should be in the Sixth Form with at least GCSE-level German.

Please submit the registration form below, including a 150 word submission in German to the question "Erkläre mit 150 Wörtern, wieso dir ein Online-Praktikum am Goethe-Institut London nützlich sein könnte".

To apply, it will be necessary to secure permission from legal representatives. The consent form needs to be filled in and submitted along with the registration form. Only digital entries will be accepted.

The deadline for applications is 25 June 2021.

The programme can accept a maximum of 20 students. Late applications and incomplete will not be considered. Shortlisting will be by an internal panel at the Goethe-Institut London and all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be informed by 2 July 2021.

We welcome applications from students of all backgrounds. Participants should be resident in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Testimonial

The Online-Praktikumswoche has been one of the best weeks of my life. It has strengthened my love for German and my desire to study it at university. I learnt so much and my confidence in speaking German has definitely improved, especially in subjects that I didn’t feel as confident in. It was really inspiring and I’ve learnt a lot from everyone who I’ve got to meet.

I got to make really good friends with a lot of people, and hopefully we can all meet in person in the future” – A participant, October 2020
