9:30 AM - 6:30 PM

Goethe-Institut London

Are you a game-maker or artist interested in careful and caring game design?

This year the Goethe-Insitut will be hosting the Now Play This Summer Summit. April’s Now Play This Festival investigated one of humanity’s foundational experiences: love. Continuing some of the insightful discussions started there, the Summer Summit will delve deeper into how games can be made with care in mind, both for players and developers.
The Summit will be a one day event bringing together game-makers, artists and developers for a programme of talks and collaborative workshops culminating in an opportunity to prototype and share some new games in a gentle micro-jam.
Joining us for the Summer Summit are Sky Tunley-Stainton (Safe in Our World), Sindi Breshani (Episod Studio), and Sarah Osmik & Sarah Berry (Relate), who will discuss their work exploring systems of care, mental health and social activism.

09:30 - Arrival and tea/coffee
10:00 - Panel Discussion: Careful Gaming - How can games promote a more caring world?
11:00 - Gameplay: A hands-on introduction to some games dealing with care
12:00 - Lunch
13:00 - Workshop: How we play together - A series of short game activities to start generating ideas about care
14:45 - Micro-jam: A chance to prototype some game ideas using themes from the rest of the day
17:00 - Presentation: Informal sharing of ideas and discussion about how we engage with care through game design

The Now Play This Summer Summit is supported by Goethe Institut, Games London and Arts Council England.
