At 43, Inspector Voss has just returned to his home village in Brandenburg when a body is discovered in the woods. The victim owned part of the forest which he planned to lease to a wind power company. Enemies he had aplenty but the clues are confusing. Luckily for Voss there is Maja, his mother’s Polish caretaker, who frequently baffles him but often asks all the right questions at crucial moments. But then a second body is discovered. Once again executed as if by a huntsman. And that changes everything. Now they’re looking for a serial killer – or are they? Suspects disappear and stories that reach far into the past keep the commissioner awake at night.

A crime novel that evokes the power of nature and explores in a subtle but spot on way the Brandenburg region and its people.
