Workshop Workshop Day for Teachers

Topics: Primary German and Developing Literacy in the Classroom

On 3 May 2016, the Goethe-Institut is offering two German teacher training workshops at Liverpool Hope University. A session for primary school teachers will take place in the morning that will deal with the topic Deutsch mit Felix und Franzi introducing the Goethe-Institut’s primary school teaching materials. In the afternoon, there will be a session for secondary school teachers covering the topic Developing Literacy in the Lower Secondary Classroom.

Deutsch mit Felix und Franzi, 10 – 11.30 pm
The session for primary school teachers deals with the topic Deutsch mit Felix und Franzi. This 1.5-hour-course will provide you with everything you need to make an easy start with German at Key Stage 2. The Felix und Franzi teaching materials for primary school teachers has been created by the Goethe-Institut London in cooperation with German native speakers and British primary school teachers. The material enables all German teachers in the UK (regardless of their own level of qualification) to make a flying start with teaching German. The session will provide you with excellent new resources, with training on how to use the Felix und Franzi lesson plans and with new media to cause excitement in your classroom.

Developing Literacy in the Lower Secondary Classroom, 1 – 2.30 pm
The secondary school session covers the topic Developing Literacy in the Lower Secondary Classroom. You will be exploring stories step by step whilst integrating cross-curricular ideas and having fun with serious content (examples in German). Hands-on activities for your classroom as well as opportunities for CPD are included.

If you are interested in participating in one of the sessions, please send an email to Fiona Gustard (gustarf@hope.ac.uk) at Hope University.
