Germany 2015/2016, Feature Film, Dir.: Fatih Akin, 93 mins.

Adaptation of the eponymous novel by Wolfgang Herrndorf about two teenage outsiders from Berlin who go on an eccentric roadtrip through East Germany during the summer holidays.

14-year-old Maik comes from a wealthy, albeit dysfunctional family. Deemed a bore and outsider at school, he doesn't stand a chance to get noticed by his secret love. His classmate Andrej Tschichatschow, called "Tschick", is also an outsider, but for different reasons: He is an impoverished migrant kid living in dire conditions in Berlin-Marzahn and often causes trouble. Eventually, the two unlike boys become friends, and when Maik is spending the summer holidays at home alone, Tschick comes up with an idea: With a stolen car, he wants to take Maik on a trip to Wallachia where his grandfather lives. Thus begins an adventurous journey through East Germany, for the two forgot to bring along a map. On the way, they pick up a girl of their age named Isa, who is heading for Prague and is willing to show them the right way.
