Here I stand © Landesamt für Denkmalpflege und Archäologie Sachsen-Anhalt - Landesmuseum für Vorgeschichte

Wed, 04.10.2017 -
Tue, 31.10.2017

Goethe-Institut Glasgow

The exhibition presents the Reformation in seven chapters, showing Martin Luther’s origins against the background of the late Middle Ages social structure from which the Reformation emerged to its rapid propagation through Europe. Due to the new medium of book printing, the movement quickly became a household name and ultimately altered and affected western society and culture until the present day. Topics include the history of women in the Reformation period, Luther’s fellow reformers, and the global spread of Protestantism.

The exhibition opening will take place on the 4th of October with a panel discussion about Martin Luther’s contribution to the development of the German language, which will be held in German. The panel will comprise Prof. em. Dr. Hartmut Günther (University of Cologne) in conversation with Prof. Paul Bishop (University of Glasgow) and Thomas Jantzen (the German Speaking Congregation).

The poster exhibition itself will be in English and displayed from the 5th of October 2017 until the 31st of October 2017 at the Goethe-Institut Glasgow.

Please note that the exhibition and the opening  are free.
