Study Day Deutscher Film für Teenager: a KS3 German Study Day

This event is intended for teachers and students only.

If you are looking for new ways to stimulate and motivate your Year 8 and 9 German students then this event may be for you as it focuses on a variety of age-appropriate German films from shorts like Bienenstich Ist Aus to more established feature films such as Lola Rennt. The morning clip-based presentation will focus on cultural themes which foreground the experiences of young people in Germany, all of which will be explored and discussed through interactive activities. There are opportunities for students to learn more about film language and also to act out small dramas on stage which will help consolidate learning. The afternoon comprises an introduced screening of a suitable feature film, which last year was Berlin 36. The event will be conducted predominantly in German and students will be encouraged to speak in the target language where possible. Students should be in their second to third year of studying German in order to get the most benefit from this event. A useful resource pack will be available on the day to guide teachers in expanding future learning in the classroom.
