We are pleased to support the attendance of Berlin-based director Elwira Niewiera who will be available for a Q& A following the screening of her engrossing documentary of a fascinating figure in cinema.

As a Hollywood producer, Polish-born Michal Waszynski excelled in creating magical worlds and characters. His biggest creation, however, was his own persona: born into a poor Jewish family he changed his name and religion in order to be accepted into Italian society’s upper echelons. Winner of the 2017 Venice Classics Award for Best Documentary, The Prince and the Dybbuk explores a cinematic enigma while celebrating the thrilling times of the golden era of Hollywood and Rome’s La Dolce Vita.

Germany, Poland 2017, 82 mins.; Original title: Książę i dybuk; Director: Elwira Niewiera, Piotr Rosołowski
